This post is all about Vilnius at night. If you have read my blog in the past, you may have noticed that I have a soft spot for night photography (as well as portraits of course!). I’ve taken and posted photographs taken at dusk in Dublin and Sligo here in the past. Well, I though why not share a few photos from my hometown, i.e. Vilnius at night.
The photos were my housewarming present to my parents who recently moved to a new house. My task was to decorate a blank wall in the hallway. I spent a few weeks working on this project while on holidays at home in the summer. Thankfully, my ‘clients’ were delighted with the results and gave me their permission to share the photos here.
All the images were taken over the course of about a week in July 2015, when the days were so long and so warm. Dusk is what gives photos this gorgeous ‘blue’ effect. The ‘blue hour’ as it is sometimes known generally lasts about 30-45 minutes and occurs twice every day – at dusk and dawn.
My plan was to cover 3-4 locations in Vilnius at night which meant that I had to make 3- 4 separate trips to town. And the time went by so quickly! I have to admit that it was a wonderful experience. I got to wonder around my hometown and appreciate how beautiful it is, both during the day and at night J
If you would like to try ‘blue hour’ photography yourself, I’ve a few tips here.
